What kinds of business translate well to virtual worlds such as Second Life ®?

Anything where visual or interactive tools could enhance the visitors appreciation of your products or services. Business such as galleries, tourism destinations, furniture, clothing, museums, life representations, live music venues, florists or markets.

Lets look at a gallery example:

Products: The gallery can be setup to accurately replicate the real life paintings available.

Touch: On touch of the painting a note card or a sound file can be played profiling the painting.

Purchase: These maybe purchased within Second Life ® simply by paying the desired painting.

Virtual or Real: You may sell the virtual object, the real object or both

So the painting might be 100L for a virtual copy or 100,000 for the real life painting. When the 100L virtual copy is purchased it is delivered immediately. However lets assume the visitor paid 100,000. The system would gather the visitors details an the order transmitted to your staff for processing. We recommend as a courtesy when the real copy is purchased the new owner is also given a virtual copy to enjoy in both worlds.

Alternatively for real world sales the purchase process could be continued on an external website.

What protections exist after sale of an object:

As creator you set the next owners permissions before sale. You specify modify, copy or resell access giving you full control of how the virtual copy is used after sale.

We can assist with this process however copyrights are managed by Second Life ®.

International Sales:

Second Life ® has no international boundaries your customer maybe from anywhere in the world. If you are selling real life products an international delivery system is recommended or specify which countries you deliver to.

Future Updates:

Second Life ® is constantly expanding and growing towards the future. Updates may be necessary however your own staff can be trained to do these or we can provide property management services.

Costs:

It is free for people to join Second Life ®. So your market audience is not limited to membership.

There one off design costs or maintenance fee's may apply dependant upon the package chosen.

Renting or owning virtual land does incur fees payable to the land owner or Second Life ®. These costs basically translates to the maintenance of the server your virtual environment exists on. We can assist with the calculation and understanding of these fees.

Second Life ® Economy:

You concerned about receiving payment in Lindens however Second Life ® is a long established virtual world. It is one of the few that exchanges from and to USD and boast a thriving economy. For full details visit:
